- Musculoskeletal Injuries

- Moving Patients, Extrication Concepts
- Extremity Splinting
- Patient Assessment Practice
Day 3:
- Thermoregulation (Heat/Cold Related Injuries)
- Toxins, Bites, and Stings
- Lightning
- Wound and Burn Management
- Allergies and Anaphylaxis
- Patient Assessment Practice
- Simulations/Scenarios
Day 4:
- Backcountry Illnesses
- Medical and Legal Issues
- Patient Assessment Practice
- Simulations/Scenarios
- Final Exam
Certifications
Wilderness Advanced First Aid is a 4-days hands-on course that is a mixture of classroom and practice time. Upon successful completion, students will receive certification in Wilderness Advanced First Aid (currently through NASAR).
Included Materials
All teaching materials will be at no additional cost. Students will receive the following books for this course:
- The Outward Bound Wilderness First-Aid Handbook
- Personal IFAK
Evaluation
Successful completion with certification is based on 100% attendance and demonstrated proficiency with hand-on skills. We are committed to making reasonable accommodations to any student with special needs.
Prerequisites
Students must be a minimum of 16 years old to participate in this course; students under 18 years of age will require the written consent of a parent or guardian.
